Roshankish Tae Kwon Do Boston Instructors
Tae Kwon Do Master - Ali Roshankish 4th Dan
Master Ali Roshankish’s life has been directed by the practice of the martial arts. Growing up in Iran he first started training in traditional Shotokan Karate, gaining a black belt in this system. As a teenager he came to the U.S. speaking little English and lacking any sense of belonging or any real direction to his life. Through the values of hard-work and discipline that his original martial arts training gave him he started to firmly take hold of the opportunities that his new country gave him. He worked hard in his studies and started to train in his first Korean Martial Art, that of Tang Soo Do, going on to gain a 2nd Degree Black Belt in this system. It was around this time that he knew he wanted to teach others and communicate the values that traditional martial arts training had given him and that had helped him so much in his own life. Whilst training in Tang Soo Do, he started to also train in Tae Kwon Do and eventually went on to gain his first black belt in this system.
In 1997 he opened his first school and began training his very first students (many of whom are still training). Although it was making no money and he had to hold down three jobs to keep it going he persevered knowing that to follow a dream is not easy but that hard work and perseverance are necessary if you want to achieve your goals (Students of Master Roshankish know that “dreams” are something you hope happens but that goals are something you aim and work towards).
Bit by bit, his school grew and he was forced to move locations twice to accommodate the ever increasing number of students wanting traditional martial arts training – something that is unfortunately becoming all too rare in today’s society. In 2000 he moved the school to its current location in Medford, Massachusetts, where it has become a notable part of the Medford and Somerville community.
